i'll be back

please please please read that in the arny voice!

i'm not going to post for 2 ish weeks until my semester is over and all my assignments are in and done. and then i'll go crazy, coz i'll be on holidays whilst all my friends are still studying.

and i've got so much planned for the holidays

i really want to go to the movies more.
i hardly ever go. and i like movies. so i think i should go more often. i thought about this yesterday and even dreamt about going to the cinema near my place. (i have really exact dreams, but that's another story)

i'm going on an amazing volunteer trip
where we're helping restore wildlife after flood damage and helping out with rebuilding a school and many more exciting and loving things. for which i'm fundraising right now. (read - chocolate selling)

i'm going to spring clean!
yes, it shall be a hard task, and yes it's winter, but that just means even more rooibos tea with biscuits to motivate me. yum :)

clay making!
i'm going to be making a lot of jewellery to build up my collection.
if you have any ideas, let me know!!

because i live in australia, i'm going to be doing lots of snuggling and staying inside for our *cough* cold winter.

but i'll also be out, i have a few photo projects planned.

i'm going to do lots of reading on designers and architects and sustainable architecture
(see this for what i mean) and lots of bookmarking of wonderful webpages to share.

which brings me to my next point - i'm going to be blogging. a lot.
so please come back and read and comment and let me know how adored i am *cough*

and so i leave you with some jewellery and some sentimental bits.

these pretzels are the ones i baked a long time ago, and then i borrowed a friends lens and took some closer pics of them. my fav are the glazed ones - i would eat that!

it's been just over a year since i started making jewellery (because of this one) and i look back over my first cupcakes that i made. (which i coincidently threw out the other day because i used the wrong clay and they didn't bake properly. they came out warm and soft. ew.)

anyway i digress.
so pretty much, comparing the stuff i used to make with above photos and others i am so proud of how i've improved since then and am looking forward to see how i continue to learn new techniques and think of even more things to make. (that includes ideas from others, so let me know if you have any!)

and now i am off to throw myself into my work and i'll be up for air in 2ish weeks.

burgers

sorry it's been so long since i posted - i had an epic finish-work-struggle aaaaaaaaaand

i drove to canberra!!!!
i got some lovely picatures which i shall post soon, but for now here is my latest clay creation.

i have made a burger before, but these ones aren't cheeseburgers. they also include - if you can see properly - pickles. and i also made tomato canes that were supposed to look like real tomato slices but failed. oh and the seeds on top also failed.. but anywho..

baking

but of course, FAKE baking.

these are two sets of goodies that went into the oven today.the donuts - we have chocolate, coffee (the lighter one with dark sprinkles) and vanilla with colourful sprinkles. yum!

and these are all pretzels. we have some savoury pretzels with salt - which turned translucent post-oven. and then there's half chocolate coated. and vanilla glazed (which are my favourite) and a failure at a cinnamon one. i got all the colours wrong and now it looks like chilli or something :)

but i am having a pretzel obsession and i really miss the store i used to get them from. they always had delicious, soft, warm pretzels. they had a collection of savoury but my favourite were the vanilla glazed. and little pretzel bites.
yummy pretzel bites! from bakingdom

which is why i spent a good deal of my day trawling through Bakingdom and drooling over her yummy photos. but most importantly, planning when i am going to try making some of my own pretzels. i had no idea it was so easy!

and i have the shape forming part down pat, as you can see from above :)

i'm in love

so, anyone who knows me knows that i have a thing for packaging design.

like, interestingly designed water bottles.
my mother dreads taking me to the supermarket because we always walk out with far too many bottled waters than we will ever need, but i just need them for my collection, no matter how gruesome the contents are..

i guess this love stems from the admiration of packaging design which is why i was so excited when i found this website
like pee-your-pants-awesome, it is.

it is called Packaging of the World and i am in love.

my favourite has got to be this brac fini sapuni soap box. i just love the simplicity yet the effect!

enjoy browsing!

p.s. i got onto this because i'm researching packaging for my jewellery - markets starting soon i hope!

break

sorry about not posting.
for the past couple of days.

and the next couple - i've got a few uni assignments plus i'm trying to really crank out the clay stuff because i'm trying to sell it at some markets soon! eek

on the bright side of things, i just found out how long my winter holidays are..

7 weeks!

totally makes up for all the assessments i continuously have.
i may or may not be having a cupcake baking frenzy during those seven weeks of freedom. of the clay persuasion of course.

and because every post is nicer with a picture *cough* slash shameless self-advertising *cough*, here is another bit of eva-made clay...

orange and poppyseed. yum yum

i'm trying more, as we say, gourmet cupcakes with fancier flavours than just pink or purple :)
i haven't taken any photos of the others yet but i made passionfruit choc cupcakes with delicious looking icing. or the orange creme choc cupcakes. i always end up making chocolate ones. for what reason je ne sais pas.

eva-made week: burger

this is an old photo custom order for a friend who loves maccas.
this was also the first time i worked with white clay.
so this is when i learnt that white clay never stays white. the hard way.

but it still looked right.

eva-made week: choc orange muffin

what's with my obsession for recreating chocolate things?
i don't even eat the real ones!

my first attempt at canes (tubes of something, in this case orange slices.) i was pretty happy.

eva-made week: c is for cookie

yummmm!
this even looks appetising to me
even with the whole don't-like-chocolate-thing

this was my first cookie. or the first one that i let other people see. (the others were so terrible no-one else ever saw them)

took me about an hour to perfect the texture. to get that perfect, messy, just baked texture.

eva-made week: pink cupcakes

and now for edible subjects.
although i maintain snow is edible. but that's a different story.

these are made with polymer clay and each one is no larger than 2cm high.
some of these look a bit wonky because i have never made clay things during summer before (i started last year in autumn) and the heat made them all soft and hard to work with..

also note the crisp focus on the middle one. have to thank nikon for that :)

baked deliciousness

okay. see on the right side there. where it says i'm a wannabe jewellery-maker? i'm kind of a jewellery-maker, so it should really say wannabe successful jewellery-maker.

here is a sample of my things.

i make them out of polymer clay.
this is a custom-made one for my friend who wanted a whole lotta baked deliciousness on her wrist.
