i have officially started selling my clay jewellery so i have been kept busy with orders and organising - which takes so much more time than i thought it would!
i am also going on holidays to switzerland (yay) soon, so this blog shall be taking a hiatus.

tea party
there was an assortment of teapots
as well as paper flowers and glass bowls full of 'deco balls'
there were more teapots, including my personal favourite 'tea time'
one of my friends said that this was her favourite, only one problem, it's always tea time!
you can also see our stand packed full of sandwiches and quiches and scrolls and scrumptiousness!
there was a hammock
behind the tomato truss
and who could forget the scones?
the lovely sarah, along with alex, made a beautiful streamer out of doilies - such a great idea! - that you can see in the background here.
thank you to the lovely ladies who came,
and may we have many more lovely afternoons like this
♥

pancreas
theyre an important organ that we can't forget.
and some people even write songs about them!
weird al is just brilliant. he can mimic so many different music styles and his lyrics are hilarious!
Oooh oooh oooh ee-oooh oooh oooh
Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh-oooh oooh
Oooooh
I'm always thinkin' 'bout it
I don't know what I'd do without it
I love, I really love
My pancreas
My spleen just doesn't matter
Don't really care about my bladder
But I don't leave home without
My pancreas
My pancreas is always
There for me
Ahh-oooh
and it goes on

desserts
my tea party was an absolute success!
the weather, which has been miserable recently, decided to be very sunny and wonderful and warm and happy!
there was lots of food, as you can see.
in this photo you can see the friands and scones and chocolate crackles.
and just on the edge on the left you can see fairy bread (♥) and berry/white choc scrolls.
there were also various personifications of chocolate, in brownies, cookies and also some beautiful kourabiethes.
the best thing is?
everything was handmade!
by myself and my lovely friends, so thank you guys!
more photos to come
and i just want to add that this photo was not posed,
but my friends were eager to eat after i made them wait whilst i took photos

seams
i'm one of those people who is picky about clothing quality.
after spending 4 years learning about textiles and sewing techniques and the burning characteristics of every fibre you can think of, i pick my clothes carefully.
so it annoys me when i get it wrong.
my most favourite singlet ever, the best shape and fit and the most comfortable fabric, has just a bizarre cut. it's a discrepancy in the making that only my singlet has.
the bad thing is looking at it everytime i wear it i see this weird seam, that instead of going down goes slightly across and ends on a diagonal. i know it doesn't sound like much, but after 4 years of 'your mitred corners aren't flat enough' and 'i can't believe that shocking overlocking!', it really bugs me to see it everytime.
it gets worse.
because i love it and it's so comfortable, i went back to buy one with straight seams.
they don't have them anymore!
well, they do. but in the wrong fabric, a terrible synthetic one.
from now on, i will only purchase an item once it has passed my thorough sewing quality control check!

cubes
whilst completing my materials assignment [1, 2 and 3]
i was researching cubes and came across these funky little cubes
and they are just gorgeous and simple, yet ugh, wonderful!
they're by parisian (of course) architecture studio called atelier 37-2
each of them serves a different purpose for a french photography studio, so hair/makeup and styling and production etc
i really really want one
or two
or three
i haven't decided yet

plastic
the final iteration of my staple model
using coreflute, that plastic board that politicians print their advertising on
i've changed the inside so it's more 'dynamic' but the most important part of it is the effect of the coreflute layers and how they create an almost optical illusion
so i've been using lots of materials this semester, coming up with some interesting results.
and then i'll be doing it all again next year. yay.

i hurt my neck muscles
how?
by grinning too much
why?
to show everyone my beautiful new smile,
after finally getting my braces off!!
the internet cannot convey my excitment enough
if we were to translate happiness into cuteness
this would embody my feelings

timber
to continue from what i showed ya'll a while back [here and here], here is the prequel to my metal frame of staple glory.
timber.
and yes, again an epic undertaking, but i used 600 cubes.
not as impressive, but i did cut them all on our dining room table with a scroll saw
[with help from various family members]
i heart sawdust

long time, i sat at the front of the bus.
and it made such a difference
usually i spend my bus time looking out the side of the window just looking at the same sites
this time i was watching the road and the same trip was completely different
try it sometime, add some excitement to that portion of your day

gotta love art
i've just been bombarded with lots of installation artists recently at uni
and then i went through my bookmarks of found stuff and saw this
and i still want to do it myself
because just how amazing does it look?!?
and what is it? seems like just magazine cutouts!
also this reminds me of a model of a city.
lots of little buildings, spaces of water, frames.
found on sweetfineday

ah quotes
can i just point out how much i love clients from hell?
the website description says 'a collection of anonymously contributed client horror stories from designers.'
a few brilliant examples
— Client sells home insurance.
"I know what I like and what I don’t like and I know what I want and what I don’t want but I have nothing specific in mind."
:)

"I want it to roar like lion. Like a digital lion.. Actually, let’s add a lion somewhere. Or maybe have it meow and then have a cat. I hear people on the internet like cats."

sleepy time?
ernesto neto
wikipedia says:
'His installations are large, soft, biomorphic sculptures that fill an exhibition space that viewers can touch, poke, and even sometimes walk on or through. These are made of white, stretchy, stockinglike material -- amorphous forms stuffed with Styrofoam pellets or, on occasion, aromatic spices.'
absolutely delicious
does anyone else have the desire to nap?
i want a room like this one in my place someday.
a new take on the old bean bag
a very safe children's playground!

i am holding an afternoon tea party,
with tea of course
source
(ps a website called evadesigns? a cool name and great designs? new fav)
croquet
source
paper doilies
source
balloons
source
and a table full of delicious food
source
but because i love food so much, i just don't know where to stop?
i would love to have the originals, little cucumber sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, scones, mini fruit tarts and the like?
or should i go with other delicious sounding things, like proscuitto melon wraps, mini baked ricottas, baby friands and macarons?
or should i do a mix, go with both types and inevitably end up with a plethora of leftovers?
hopefully it'll be a little something like this

for you, anonymous
so let's just say, that that awesome staple cube i had been
working on, had, oh i don't know, broken..
maybe it would look like this:
my hand inside
because i can put it there
because it broke
:(
i also have a nice collection of all the super glue i used.
it was a grand total of twelve tubes.
huzzah!

BIG 8 house
i love that this is what i watch in class
can i just point out how epic this is?
it's an absolutely amazing housing project in denmark by BIG
but the awesome thing about it, is the way it's inspired by program, by what functions it needs to fulfill and developing those into a building.
check out the info here

allandale house
now this is a house that i love
it's a holiday house, so it's quite simple and minimal.
but just look at the beautiful frame of the building, it's such a simple but effective shape.
this is what i want, beautiful, clean interiors with focus on the vista. and come on, these photos are just beautiful. according to the architect's website, the house was created to house an ecclectic collection, including rare books (sigh), wine, stuffed birds and an elk mount.
i really really really want one.

bus stops
as i am lucky enough to spend a significant amount of time commuting, i get to put in my daily amount of people-watching on busses and at bus stops.
from this very favourite pasttime, i have noticed something that renders me even more lazy*, but particularly handy when you're at my bus stop, which has a bench undercover that has no view of the street.
there is a certain step that 90% of people at the stop take, and that is either forwards to indicate a bus they want is coming and are planning to get on board, or backwards as a public show of the fact that it is not their bus.
this way, if you can't see the street, because, say, the bench you and your concrete cube are sitting on is conveniently hidden behind a large covering, just watch the other people at the stop.
albeit a tad creepy, you won't have to stand whilst waiting.
* disclaimer!
i'm a design student, which means my daily luggage could consist of anything from a large drawing board to an even larger (sometimes larger than myself) piece of box board, to a giant box full of models, to a super heavy concrete cube.
so mywant need for a seat is quite justified, okay?!

canine snuggie
my new invention
made when an old towel - with a hole - was put over the head of my surprisingly neutral labrador.
she just sat there and put up with it, without complaining or trying to take it off.
my blue heeler, on the other hand, wasn't happy because the labrador was sitting whilst he was trying to play with her!
